Structural Engineer

About the Structural Engineer Position:

Perform structural and civil engineering analysis, develop engineering solutions, and support the execution of residential and commercial infrastructure projects.

Review engineering drawings, diagrams, blueprints, and design specifications with architects and other engineering personnel for potential site, safety, and development issues. Visit proposed project sites to assess existing structures, soil-structure interactions, drainage conditions, and other environmental factors which may impact structural integrity.

Utilize computer-aided design software tools including AutoCAD, Emerald, and RISA to analyze the structural integrity of buildings and prepare models of proposed structural systems. Identify points of structural or site stress and draft designs which can withstand a wide variety of loading and environmental conditions, including seismic events, storm water flows, and wind impacts. Collaborate with architects, contractors, developers, and other engineering professionals to generate detailed project specifications and draft plans that comply with building codes and regulations [VF2.1]. Evaluate material selections to optimize structural and civil engineering efficiency while meeting project cost parameters. Provide technical support during the permitting process and address review comments as needed. Conduct site visits to monitor construction progress, verify adherence to design specifications, and resolve engineering concerns in real time. Prepare reports, presentations, and documentation for clients and stakeholders. Stay abreast of the latest developments in the civil engineering field to ensure that the company remains at the forefront of the industry.

Requirements:

The position requires Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field and one year of experience in the job offered or a related position. The position requires skills and knowledge in AutoCAD, Enercalc, and RISA.

The position requires little travel – 10% of the work time several days but less than 60 days per year at various project sites throughout the US.

Salary: 

$76,211.00 to $103,000.00 per year

40 hours/week.
